Now Published: “The Stand-In Handbook” by Ben Hauck with Sara DeRosa // Available for Download at Stand-In Central

This week I published the downloadable PDF ebook The Stand-In Handbook on Stand-In Central, a website that provides information and insight about the job of the television and film stand-in.  I founded Stand-In Central and serve as its editor.

Co-authored with Sara DeRosa, The Stand-In Handbook culls articles from the Stand-In Central website into a portable document for easy study the night before a big stand-in gig.  With over 34 chapters in 127 pages, there is no more complete resource on standing in than The Stand-In Handbook!

Welcome to the Brand New Ben Hauck online!

Over the past few months, I’ve been considering a total redesign of my website, Ben Hauck online.  Here it is!

Since my focus is now exclusively on my acting career, I wanted to centralize my acting career on my website.  I wanted to make it so that you could quickly and easily find out about my acting career and see some of my work.  My other endeavors, like writing and general semantics, I’ve de-emphasized from this new version of the website.  They are still here (or are in the process of being added), just less obvious.  The only exception is the emphasis of my forthcoming book, which I’ve linked to in the menu.  (Coming in September 2012!)

Some features that I think are really cool that you’ll see are the Photos and Videos galleries.  They are sortable and animated and really quite snazzy.  I still have a little bit of polishing to do inside each individual project mentioned, so please bear with me.  Hopefully they “wow” you as they “wowed” me!

You’ll also notice the homepage.  It has an incredible frontpage slideshow.  Coming soon will be featured videos at the bottom of the homepage.  Not to mention that, I’ll also be adding more and more video content, as I put more emphasis on video creations.

I still update my news blog regularly, so make sure you subscribe to it via RSS or else check back.  In the meantime, if you need to get ahold of me, try me via my Contact page.

Thanks for checking out the new Ben  Hauck online!

Cheers,

Ben Hauck

Review of “Confessions of a Long-Form Improv Teacher” by Ben Hauck

Today Aimée Davison posted on YouTube a review of my manuscript titled Confessions of a Long-Form Improv Teacher. Aimée worked as a beta-reader for the manuscript as part of her ongoing project called One Hundred Jobs, and she posted this video review in completion of the job.

Feedback from beta-readers of my manuscript has been very positive. I will soon be seeking publishers for the manuscript. If you’re a publisher with interest in commercial publication of this book, particularly with an interest in publishing theater arts books, please get in touch with me to talk.

Newly Published Work // Essay on “New” Alfred Korzybski Transcript

Just now coming out is a new essay of mine published in ETC: A Review of General Semantics, Volume 68, Number 2. The essay–titled “Introduction to ‘Difficulties in Learning to Apply General Semantics’”–is a companion piece to a transcript I edited of a recording of Alfred Korzybski from 1947. That transcript follows my introductory essay and had never before been published, essentially making for “new” Alfred Korzybski work over 61 years after his death.

You can download a copy of ETC 68:2 from the Institute of General Semantics website.

New Essay // “How to Be Less Wrong More Often”

My latest essay titled “How to Be Less Wrong More Often” was just published in the current issue (66:4) of ETC: A Review of General Semantics.

It explains how to talk with more accuracy, to avoid the humiliating experience of being wrong.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent // Episode 09011 // “Gods and Insects”

Today I played a Wall Street passerby and stood in for Jim True-Frost on Episode 09011 (“Gods and Insects”) of the television series Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

I also passed along to Jeff Goldblum’s assistant my recent essay titled “The Day Michael Jackson Died” from ETC: A Review of General Semantics. The essay covers the rumor about Jeff’s death which circulated on the same day Michael Jackson passed away.
